Come travel with me!
But like actually. Not just on the website, but in real life.
If you’re anything like me, you just want to go out and explore this beautiful, messy, incredible world we live in. You dream of seeing natural beauty, thoughtful design, and places from history books. But it’s not always easy to get someone to join you on the journey. If this is you, keep reading.
Right now I am working towards partnering with tour companies on group tours that you can join me on. I’m thinking of places that we can have outdoor experiences, cultural encounters, and potential volunteer opportunities. All the things that get us (me included!) to push on the boundaries of our comfort zones in a supportive environment. Yes, it will be scary to go on a trip where you don’t know anyone. But in this case, you will know at least one person – me!
Is this something you’re interested in? Check out the upcoming tours below and get on my mailing list for future opportunities.
Happy Travels,
Hanna

Upcoming Trips
6-Day Rafting Trip: Middle Fork of the Salmon River, Idaho
July 6 – 11, 2022, with ROW Adventures, Cost $2,870
I’m going on another rafting trip!! Last year’s trip through the Grand Canyon was beyond exceptional, and I want to do it again. I’ve heard amazing things about the Salmon River in Idaho, specifically the Middle Fork. Here’s what’s special about it:
- Hot springs!!! I’m so excited to stop or walk to hot springs to keep myself warmed up.
- Waterfalls and plunge pools along the way.
- Starting in a spruce forest, the river moves through untouched wilderness, and into open pine mountains.
- Paddling – this will be different for me, and I’m nervous/excited!
- Clear, free-flowing river (not dammed, so conditions change daily!) and many rapids – big adventure!
- ROW Adventures takes care of the logistics and even sets up your camp each day — I’m looking forward to this luxury. The food also seems insanely amazing.
Okay, so I’m a little nervous/excited about paddling, but what calms me down is knowing that ROW Adventures has been running the river for over 40-years. That’s longer than I’ve been alive. They also have partnerships with the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and National Forest Service, and they promote sustainability and protection of the wilderness we will pass through. On their page about this trip, they acknowledge and honor the native people and lands. All of these thoughtful touches encouraged me to reach out in the first place… And as for paddling, you can bet I’ll be training my upper body this year.
I will be writing about the adventure for ROW Adventures, but it’s a public tour, and you can join me! Head over to the ROW Adventures website and inquire about the Middle Fork of the Salmon River trip on July 6 – 11. Make sure to tell them you’re coming because of Hanna at Moderately Adventurous. Then follow up with an email to me! We can coordinate what we are going to bring! If you can’t make this time work, sign up for my newsletter, so you’ll be the first to know when I’ve written the blog post about the experience :).

5-Day Hiker’s Special Grand Canyon Rafting Trip
April 5 – 9, 2021, with Grand Canyon Whitewater, Cost $1,695
You’ve heard of the Grand Canyon. Maybe you’ve gone to the south rim and looked out across the unbelievably large canyon. Perhaps you’ve even had to walk around to get a small glimpse of the Colorado River far below. But have you considered taking a rafting trip down the Colorado River and seeing the Grand Canyon from below? I am beyond excited to go on a rafting tour in April 2021, and you can join me!
I get chills thinking of floating down through the Grand Canyon with the enormous walls above. As someone who loves hiking, I was excited to discover a rafting trip with a hiking focus and a manageable length of time (4 nights camping on the river.) Although early in the rafting season, we will get the opportunity to hike to a few places that will become inaccessible later in the season. I also liked that Grand Canyon Whitewater works with the National Parks Service and focuses on sustainability/protection. This is why I reached out to Grand Canyon Whitewater to join one of their 5-Day Hiker’s Special Rafting Trips.
If you’re interested in joining me, head over to the Grand Canyon Whitewater website and inquire about the trip on April 5 – 9. Make sure to tell them you’re coming because of Hanna at Moderately Adventurous. Then follow up with an email to me! We can coordinate what we are going to bring! If you can’t make this time work, check back as I will write a blog post about the experience :).
Review of the Tour
Another incredible group trip where I am completely enamored with the experience. I cannot wait to go back and raft the second half of the river. I ended up writing 3 blog posts about my Grand Canyon rafting adventures!
- The 5-Day Hiker’s Special Rafting Trip – this post breaks down the tour day-by-day with information on what it was like on the raft, what hikes we did, and the nuances of river life.
- Here are 8 things I didn’t expect on my first ever Grand Canyon rafting trip. It’s the little things that surprised me, like where to pee and just how much I would love a rafting trip.
- And finally, I wanted to discuss the essential things to pack and prepare for on a Grand Canyon rafting adventure. This post isn’t an exhaustive list, but take a look to mentally prepare you for a rafting trip.
Lively Cuba Tour – 8 Days
January 26 – February 2, 2020, with Locally Sourced Cuba Tours, Cost $690 – $760
Viva Cuba! And guess what?! You can come salsa dance with me too. Ever since travel restrictions from the US have eased, I’ve been dreaming of going to Cuba. There is something so alluring about this vibrant Carribean country with a Latin American zest for life. And with the new year, I figured why not?! It’s close by, with (somewhat mandatory) opportunities to experience the local culture. I am looking forward to witnessing Cuban ingenuity first hand with the old-timey cars and Carribean getaway in January.
I am going to Cuba with a company called Locally Sourced Cuba, which utilizes local guides and focuses on cultural engagement. Some of the activities included are: Havana city tour in a convertible classic car, snorkeling at the bay of pigs, informal salsa lesson, and a mojito making class. To be honest, I reached out to this company because of the local guides, help with US qualifications, and interesting activities, but also the price point is phenomenal. For this tour, the cost is $690 to share a room with someone or $760 for your own room.
There are 5 spots left (as of 11/15/19), so consider joining me. If you can’t make this time work, you can expect me to write about later :). To book the tour, head over to their website and click the dates on the calendar at the bottom of the page. Make sure to tell them you’re coming because “Hanna at Moderately Adventurous” convinced you. Then follow up with an email to me! We can coordinate what additional activities to do!
Review of the Tour
Wow, what an incredible trip. I ended up writing 5 blog posts about my experiences in Cuba.
- The full tour with Locally Sourced Cuba – this post breaks down the tour day-by-day with tips for experiencing that city.
- I also scheduled a walking tour of Havana with Havana Tour Company (which is related to Locally Sourced Cuba) – this was a great introduction to Havana and helped overcome overwhelm in a new city. Not to mention the perfect gentle activity to combat jetlag.
- Here is a list of the things I did while in Havana – a couple of the items are included in the tour, but the other things I did on my own time and dime.
- In Trinidad, our group opted to do a waterfall trek together – this was an additional fee to the tour, but was so stunning that I wanted to show what was possible in the town of Trinidad.
- Since my travel partner and I love to hike, we also scheduled a sunrise hike in Vinales on our own time. This is another option to consider when visiting this town!
